The Global Skills Project was a 3 year project funded by the Department for International Development (DFID).
Its remit was to incorporate the global dimension into the national adult basic skills strategy: Skills for Life.
Through working with Skills for Life English, ESOL and Maths tutors, the project aimed to:
- Support Skills for Life tutors in incorporating a global dimension into their delivery of the curriculum
- Increase awareness and understanding of global issues amongst adult Skills for Life students and tutors
- Disseminate the project outcomes nationally through resource packs, web pages, training events and conferences
The project worked with SfL tutors in a variety of settings, from community SfL classes to prisons. The project officially ended in March 2008, however training in embedding a global dimension into Skills for Life classes is still available (see downloadable flyer below), as is the English/ESOL resource pack - 'Global Skills: Understanding The World Through English' (see below).
