Learning Network
NWGEN aims to be a learning network, sharing and learning together. The purpose of a learning network is to support practitioners in learning together so that we document, facilitate and build individual, organisational and collective capacity to contribute to the inclusion of global dimension in formal education. This includes information exchange, the advancement and dissemination of best practices, creating new knowledge through research, working in partnership on projects and raising the profile of all the organisations involved as well as that of the Global Dimension more generally. This acknowledges the need to explicitly improve the learning within the network to ensure high quality delivery and greater sustainability of the relationships.
Events
We have events and seminars for discussion, training and sharing of ideas and learning. Events by NWGEN and partner organisations include:
- "Every Child, Everywhere: The Global Dimension in Practice " [click here for flyer] Tuesday 23rd June 2009 at Liverpool Hope University (9.30 - 4.00pm). A one day conference to explore ways of delivering the Global Dimension across the school curriculum and through ITET. - "Community Cohesion Through Forum Theatre " [click here for flyer] Monday 6th July 1-4pm at the Burnley and Pendle Faith Centre. A unique opportunity for teachers to learn and experience this dynamic methodology and how it can be used to promote community cohesion and explore issues of diversity, equality and citizenship.
Stimulate Your Thinking
Issues in global education often rouse passions and create debate and discussion. There are few easy answers - indeed, the process of creatively and dynamically thinking for yourself is a crucial part of a global education, nor does this ever come to an end.
To stimulate thinking, discussion and debate, NWGEN commissioned Jaya Graves of Southern Voices to write some 'think pieces'. Jaya says "These topics came through discussions. They are practitioner driven, experiential and conversational, not academic". They can be downloaded (below) as Word documents.
