LENS: Sharing and Learning in School Clusters

NWGEN's main focus over the next few years is to work with clusters of schools clusters to form local learning networks. The aim of this work will be to embed the global dimension in the schools through a process of shared learning and activity. NWGEN will encourage schools to work on issues with a clear global dimension related to other agendas important to schools including sustainable schools, diversity and inclusion and Every Child Matters, building on the material we already have on these themes. Linking the work to other awards such as eco-schools, fair trade schools and the International School Award is also a possibility. The focus will be on teaching and learning and helping schools achieve the aspirations they have for pupils and staff as global learners.Clusters can either be pre-existing or come together specifically for this work. The idea is that teachers will develop the confidence and understanding to promote the global dimension in their own school and share their experience with others. Local cluster coordinators will support schools to take part in the programme and will help with getting to grips with including global dimensions in the curriculum and the wider life of the school. Teachers will be challenged to look at their work in a new light - professional development at its best!If you interested in being involved, please get in touch with your local LENS coordinator (contact details on back page). We will be launching new LENS clusters in the future so even if there are no openings at the moment, we will be happy to keep your details for these.
